Youth Leaders for America - Cache Valley
Welcome to Youth Leaders for America (YLA)!
YLA Communities are groups of Christian homeschooling American Patriot families. YLA is dedicated to raising up youth who are prepared to stand for faith, liberty and truth, who will lead in their homes and communities, and will postivily impact the world for good. We meet for weekly classes and host year-round activities and events for youth and families who are part of the YLA Community.
Is my family right for YLA? Is YLA right for my family?
YLA is not a "one size fits all" communtiy. YLA may be right for you if you can answer affirmatively to the following statements:
Our family has been homeschooling the youth interested in attending YLA for a minimum of 1 full year, in the last 12 months or more, and we want to be contributing members of a homeschool community of like-minded individuals
We are looking for classes and social activities for our homeschool youth ages 12 and older
Our family upholds principles of Christian faith, freedom and family unity
We have read, or will commit to read, A Thomas Jefferson Education by Oliver Demille by the end of our first semester at YLA
We can commit to a minimum of 10 volunteer hours in the community and to attending one parent night per semester
We are looking for passionate mentors, not particular curriculum or program
My homeschool student(s) have the attention span to sit through and be respectful in a group classroom environment without me there
I will support my YLA scholar(s) in fulfilling their commitments for class with a good environment for study and helping them to understand and follow through with their assignments as needed
I am looking for classes to supplement my youths' home education and social experiences, not a full course load or a complete education program
I will be responsible for communicating with each mentor my scholar chooses to enroll with and can help them keep track of their assignments
We want to be part of a flexible group that has many different social options for our homeschool youth and understand that it is also a family commitment to a community we are willing to contribute to
Vision
Our Vision: The Scholar’s Journey
Becoming a scholar is not an overnight transformation. It is a purposeful journey of growth, guiding students from learning facts, to seeking truth, to living with integrity.
We nurture scholars through three developmental phases:
Apprentice Scholar — Accumulate Knowledge
Students build a strong foundation by learning how to study, ask questions, discuss ideas, and organize information. They develop curiosity, discipline, and confidence in learning.
Typically ages 12–14.
Journeyman Scholar — Seek Truth and Understanding
Students take ownership of their learning. Through effort, accountability, and inquiry, they seek understanding—not just information—inviting the Spirit to confirm truth and deepen perspective.
Typically ages 14–16.
Master Scholar — Act with Integrity
Students apply knowledge and understanding in meaningful ways. They act with faith, responsibility, and purpose—using their gifts to serve, lead, and positively influence the world around them.
Typically ages 16–18.
We Want Youth Who We Are Becoming
Our program is designed to help students become individuals who:
Love Truth
They think independently, discern truth, recognize patterns, and make wise, informed decisions grounded in eternal principles.
Build Healthy Relationships
They communicate effectively, value others, collaborate well, and contribute to strong, caring communities.
Work Diligently and Create Beauty
They are curious, resilient, creative, and willing to do hard things—seeking to improve themselves and the world around them.
Serve as Leaders
They lead by serving, strengthening families and communities through character, conviction, and compassion.
Live with Independence and Accountability
They take responsibility for their actions, honor commitments, and strive for excellence in all they do.
YLA Communities
YLA Communities are groups of Homeschool families that follow the same outline, uphold the same vision and mission and connect for shared educational and social activities.
